Everyone is going to ou and awe over this baked brie appetizer- it is so festive and when you cut into the flaky phyllo dough gives a loud crunch. A WOW factor appetizer that is jam packed with a ton of flavor! The best part is that it takes only a few minutes to prepare and you can slide it right into the oven as your guests arrive.

Ingredients for Baked brie

Quality of brie cheese matters! I always recommend using a brie cheese that is French- brie cheese originated in France so if it is French you know it’s creamy, has notes of mushroom and will melt really well! When melted, the cheaper brie cheeses can often pool with oil which means they aren’t the best quality and stuffed with fillers & additives. When making baked brie, spend a little bit more on the cheese to make sure it’s a quality one.

Here are all the ingredients that you’ll need for this recipe:

  • Brie cheese

  • Phyllo dough

  • Cranberry sauce (or any jam of choice)

  • Butter

  • Thyme

My favorite cake pan to use are by USA pan - great quality and they never change color or warp on me. At such a great price point you can’t go wrong!

You can use however big of a cake pan as you’d like- mine was 8”

I am always asked about what baked brie dish I use and this is my favorite one by STAUB

Baked Brie Phyllo Wreath

This is a crispy, buttery and flaky appetizer stuffed with an oozy brie cheese that everyone is going to love this holiday season! It is oh so festive and shaped like a wreath.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz brie cheese wheel
  • phyllo dough (I used one package- 8 sheets in total)
  • 3 tbsp cranberry jam (or any jam of choice!)
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • fresh thyme (garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat your oven to 350 F and line a cake pan with a piece of parchment paper (this will make your wreath easy to remove from the pan after it is baked)
  2. Cut brie cheese into small square slices and set aside
  3. Lay down two phyllo sheets at a time and brush them with melted butter so they crisp up in the oven (I repeated this process 4 times and used 8 phyllo sheets in total)
  4. Fold the two phyllo sheets into an accordion shape and repeat to your other sheets so they are all folded
  5. Place the folded phyllo dough in the outer edges of a round cake pan to look like a wreath shape (I open the folds up a bit as I place the sheets down to make it easier after to put in the jam and cheese)
  6. Bake for 10 min to get the phyllo a bit crispy
  7. Take it out of the oven and add in jam and brie cheese slices in between the phyllo folds (you might have to open them up a bit with your hands)
  8. Bake for another 20 min (NOTE: I turned my oven to 375 for the last 5 minutes to get it extra crispy)
  9. Remove from the pan when its done and put on a serving board. Garnish with fresh thyme and serve immediately. This tastes great with a drizzle of honey too!
