Brie Cheese Bunny Puff Pastry Bites

If you are looking for an easy appetizer to make this Easter that is crispy, flaky, cheesy AND shaped like bunny, you’ll want to make these! They are stuffed with brie cheese and fig jam making them the perfect sweet and savory combination.

There is something about baked brie cheese that just gets everyone excited at any get together! It is well paired with something sweet or savory but around Spring and easter time, I like to pair it with a bit of fig jam to really bring out its creamy, earthy flavors. Both are stuffed inside puff pastry that is shaped like a bunny- which is perfect for Easter. Once kids and adults see these pop out of the oven, everyone will be fighting for the first bite and they will be gone in no time. Make an easy appetizer to impress this Easter- whether you are hosting easter brunch and lunch, this cute family friendly appetizer will be the talk of the table.

Ingredients for Brie Cheese Bunny Puff Pastry Bites

Growing up, I loved anything cute and themed and I still do as an adult! I feel like any kids who see a bunny shaped appetizer at the Easter table will immediately grab one to eat (& all the adults too). Using cookie cutter is a really fun way to turn ordinary appetizers into special ones. If you are hosting Easter, cut these into bunnies or if you are doing a spring party cut these into flowers! The options are really limitless here but you could adapt this recipe to ANY season, holiday and themed party. This is the bunny cookie cutter I used.

You will only need a few ingredients to make this recipe:

  • Brie Cheese

  • Puff pastry

  • Jam of choice

  • Egg

My favorite pans are USA pan - great quality and they never change color or warp on me. At such a great price point you can’t go wrong!

If you are looking for other jam options for the spring and summer months entertaining try any of these: fig jam, strawberry jam, peach jam, lemon curd, raspberry, etc. Really the options are endless!

Always buy a good quality brie cheese! Brie originates in France so try to get one that says “made in France” or “made with French practices” on the label. It will be better quality and melt perfectly in the oven. I have found that the cheaper brie cheeses are not authentic and pool oil when baked. A quality French brie will be your go to for any get together especially Easter when friends and family are gathering together to soak up time together and good eats.

Ingredients

Brie Tart
  • Puff pastry dough (1 package/2 sheets)
  • 4 oz brie cheese chopped into small slices
  • 4 oz of jam of choice (I used fig jam)
  • 1 beaten egg (egg wash)
  • fresh thyme (garnish- optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 350 F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper
  2. Lay out your puff pastry sheets and make bunny cut outs with your cookie cutter (12 cut outs total).
  3. Lay out 6 of your bunny cut out on the baking sheet
  4. Then add a dollop of fig jam and a piece of brie cheese in the middle of each of the 6 bunny cut outs
  5. Then begin placing the other 6 bunny cut outs on top
  6. Use a fork to close the bunny cutouts (make sure you close them tightly so they don’t ooze out any brie cheese)
  7. Add some of the egg wash on each for a crispy brown finish
  8. Pop in the oven and bake for 20 minutes and serve warm
  9. You can always garnish with a bit of fresh thyme for a pop of color and freshness!
