Ingredients for GARLIC BUTTER BAKED BRIE Bunny

Quality of brie cheese matters! I always recommend using a brie cheese that is French- brie cheese originated in France so if it is French you know it’s creamy, has notes of mushroom and will melt really well! When melted the cheaper brie cheeses can often pool with oil which means they aren’t the best quality and stuffed with fillers & additives. When making baked brie, spend a little bit more on the cheese to make sure it’s a quality one.

  • Brie cheese

  • Minced garlic

  • Butter

  • Crescent roll dough

  • Egg

  • Fresh Parsley

My favorite pans are USA pan - great quality and they never change color or warp on me. At such a great price point you can’t go wrong!

For the crescent roll dough, I used Pillsbury but you can also use their biscuit dough, store bought pizza dough or make your own dough for this recipe!

Always buy a good quality brie cheese! Brie originates in France so try to get one that says “made in France” or “made with French practices” on the label. It will be better quality and melt perfectly in the oven. I have found that the cheaper brie cheeses are not authentic and pool oil when baked. A quality French brie will be your go to for any get together especially Easter when friends and family are gathering together to soak up time together and good eats.

Baked Brie Bunny

This melty baked brie cheese is smothered in garlic butter and surrounded by pillowy soft dough balls in the shape of a bunny! The perfect festive cheesy appetizer to serve up for Easter lunch and brunch.

Prep time: 10 MinCook time: 15 MinTotal time: 25 Min

Ingredients

  • 8 oz wheel of brie cheese
  • 2 packages of crescent roll dough (or pizza dough)
  • 5 tbsp melted salted butter
  • 2-3 cloves of minced fresh garlic
  • Chopped fresh parsley
  • Salt & pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 and put parchment paper on a baking sheet
  2. Mix together the melted butter and minced garlic in a bowl and set aside
  3. Add your brie cheese wheel in the middle of the baking sheet and score the top of it (create cross hatch cuts about ½ inch deep into the top of the brie cheese). Do not cut off the rind of the cheese- leave it on! This will ensure that your baked oozy cheese stays put in the center.
  4. Roll your crescent roll dough (or pizza dough) into a thin log (about an inch thick). Then cut into 21 equal pieces (the dough ball pieces should look a bit rectangular) using a knife and bend the leftover dough into 2 triangles for the ears. See video above for an example of how to do this.
  5. Add the dough pieces around your brie cheese to make it look like an Easter bunny- you should be able to make one row of dough balls around the cheese and then a circular face on top. Lastly, add in the triangular bunny ears.
  6. Brush the dough pieces and brie cheese with the melted butter and garlic mixture (reserve some of the melted butter mixture for after baking)
  7. Top with fresh herbs and some pepper and salt- I used chopped up parsley but feel free to use rosemary too if you'd like!
  8. Bake in the oven for 15-18 minutes until dough balls start to get golden brown. TIP: if yours isn’t browning then turn up the heat to 450 for 3 minutes at the end
  9. Out of the oven, brush on the remining melted butter & garlic mixture and top with more fresh parsley and ENJOY warm!

Roll out your crescent roll (or pizza dough) into a thin log shape then cut into small dough pieces

Here I am adding the dough balls around the brie cheese to make it look like a bunny.

Make sure you are using a good quality brie cheese! My favorite is anything French- look on the label at the grocery store and buy the one that is a few dollars more, it’s always worth it!

TIP: after it bakes, add on some more of that garlic butter mixture and fresh herbs and then serve this appetizer right away!
