Charcuterie Easter Basket

This is your sign to make your charcuterie board inside an Easter basket this Spring! Such a beautiful way to display an appetizer or bring to someone’s house as a hostess gift.

One of the best appetizers you can serve for any get together is cheese & charcuterie. So why not serve it up in a charcuterie basket this Easter. This is the kind of adult Easter basket I want to snack on for Easter! Just open a bottle of wine too and you are all set. You can use any basket you’d like, fill it with some colorful paper shreds and then add a wooden board on top and all your cheese essentials. So easy to create and all your guests will love how creative your charcuterie & cheese is displayed!

Ingredients for Charcuterie basket

You can use any basket shape and size you’d like to make this! The trick is finding a board that is a bit smaller than the basket to fit perfectly inside of it.

You can add on any cheese & charcuterie items you’d like but here is a list of everything I used in case you’d like to use it as reference when grocery shopping for the items.

Grocery List:

  • Wine infused cheese wedge or Gouda cheese wedge

  • Cheddar

  • Babybel cheese as bunnies (see my post here for how to make them!)

  • Orange jam

  • Salami

  • Grapes

  • Crackers

  • Strawberries

  • Blueberries

  • Dried apricots

  • Mini eggs chocolate

  • Fresh sage

When making a charcuterie board use my three step rule:

  1. Always pre-cut your cheeses to make it easy for your guests to dig in and eat. No one wants to be the first person to cut into the cheese, so always cut it before hand to make it easier for people. You will also find that your cheese will be eaten more if you cut it in advance!

  2. Add on your biggest items first like you cheeses, meat and ramekins (filled with jams, olives, mini pickles etc). These should be the first to go on a board as they take up the most real estate. Then fill in spaces using smaller items like fruits, nuts, dried fruit, etc.

  3. Add accompaniments like fresh fruit to act as a palate cleanser for the rich cheeses and meats. Fruit like grapes and berries are a fresh bite in between rich cheeses- always add these onto a board to offer guests variety to compliment your cheeses & charcuterie.

Ingredients

  • Wine infused cheese wedge or Gouda cheese wedge
  • Cheddar
  • Babybel cheese as bunnies (see my post here for how to make them!)
  • Orange jam
  • Salami
  • Grapes
  • Crackers
  • Strawberries
  • Blueberries

Instructions

  1. To set up your basket, add something in the basket to elevate the board. I used glass sauce containers (anything this side and shape would work). Then add in your paper Easter grass and charcuterie board or platter on top.
  2. To create the charcuterie board, precut your cheeses and put them on the cheese board as they take up the most space
  3. Fold your salami into two folds them place them down on your board like a salami river
  4. Add on your ramekin filled with jam
  5. Add on your crackers and then grapes
  6. Then fill in small spaces with the rest of your items until you have a full looking spread!

Notes

Make sure you add on olive oil spray to each foil ball before adding on your strips of crescent roll dough
